New Forest District Council is looking to recruit a Waste and Recycling Operations Manager to support the Service Manager in the delivery of the councils 4.5 million pound waste and recycling service.
NFDC’s waste and recycling service is delivered directly to the doors of our 82,000 households every week of the year. It is important that we get these services right in terms of standards and maintain a cost effective, safe service for our staff and residents.
The waste and recycling operations manager will be responsible for the organisation and management of the waste and recycling collection service, monitoring performance indicators and financial performance to ensure that our essential frontline collection services are functioning at the highest level.
This service employs up to 100 operational staff to collect waste from a range of streams, including household waste and recycling, commercial waste, glass, garden waste and clinical collections. The postholder will be an experienced and effective waste manager, that can provide guidance to their direct and indirect reports across the service and ensure that the Council’s excellent health and safety standards are maintained.
The council is currently developing a new waste strategy that will comply with forthcoming legislation. The waste and recycling operations manager will lead on the implementation of new service developments onto the frontline, and the ability to manage the service through change is key.
The health, safety, and welfare of all our employees is vital. The postholder will ensure that services are delivered in-line with council policies and procedures; and that our legislative responsibilities are fulfilled.
Now is an exciting time for an experienced waste manager to join our team as we work to develop and improve the waste and recycling collection service, for the benefit of our staff, our residents and our environment.
What we can offer in return is a great place to work and a great team to work with. At NFDC we believe that all our employees make a valuable contribution to the work of the council and that’s why we encourage a trusting and open culture where each employee is supported and respected equally, where ideas are actively sought and self-development promoted. We also recognise the value of a highly motivated and engaged workforce and we actively promote a good work/life balance.
