Lancashire is the fourth largest local authority in England and covers a huge geographic area and a wide range of communities both urban and rural. Lancashire County Council manages over half a million tonnes of municipal waste each year.
The Waste Service offers you an exciting opportunity to join a team who will help shape and influence how waste services will be delivered across Lancashire in a bid to meet the significant legislative and environmental challenges we face.
Reporting directly to the Service Development Manager you will play a lead role in developing and delivering waste related schemes and projects that support the whole of the service's functions and in particular ones which increase the amount of waste recycled and re-used across Lancashire.
The role will also support the work of the service in developing waste strategy and policy and managing partnerships with key stakeholders. You will have a good understanding of current issues within the waste industry and a key focus of the role will be working alongside other stakeholders outside of the council, particularly waste collection authorities.
You must have a proven track record of managing waste related projects, researching initiatives and innovations and experience of working with colleagues to increase recycling and reuse, and deliver solutions to challenges posed by changes to policies, practices and waste markets.
If you have the motivation and commitment, and a real desire to make a difference to how we manage our waste in Lancashire, then we look forward to receiving your application.
