Team Leader Recycling and Waste (Strategy and Infrastructure)

Bedford Borough Council is seeking an experienced waste manager to join our busy team and manage our waste treatment contracts with suppliers. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated waste professional looking to progress their career within the waste sector.  

You will have a degree or relevant professional qualification and have a proven track record of effective project management. The ideal candidate will have experience of contractor management in the waste sector and excellent customer service skills. You will work closely with the managers and staff of the operational team to plan and implement new services to manage Bedford's waste up the waste hierarchy.

Key Activities:

• Manage waste treatment contractors to ensure best value for the Council
• Assist in budget forecasting and waste data analysis
• Research, propose and recommend new services and funding opportunities
• Effectively manage and resolve customer queries through to conclusion
• Develop your team through mentoring and performance reviews.
