Exeter City Council would like to recruit a Recycling Officer to:
- Increase participation in Exeter’s recycling services
- Contribute to the development and provision of a high quality, user- friendly recycling and waste service
A key priority for the Waste Operations service is to increase the recycling of waste in Exeter, maximising income for the Council and reducing the impact of waste on the environment. The Recycling Officer plays an important role in analysing recycling levels around the city, identifying improvement measures and engaging with residents and community organisations in a variety of ways to promote participation in the recycling service. Reporting to the Senior Recycling Officer, you will also work closely with other Waste Operations staff including waste collection crews. You will also have extensive contact with residents and external organisations, through meetings, site visits, telephone calls and written communications.
Essential requirements for the post include: a thorough knowledge of recycling and waste management, excellent communication skills including the ability to persuade and negotiate, a high standard of literacy and numeracy and very good IT skills.
