WRAP is supporting DEFRA, DAERA, Natural Resources Wales and the Scottish Government with the emerging waste and resource policy and it is essential that we have accurate, up to date information to underpin this work. We are seeking to understand current trends and insights regarding Anaerobic Digestion (AD), In-Vessel Composting (IVC), Energy from Waste (EfW), non-hazardous landfill, and Material Recovery Facilities (MRF). Your inputs are critical in understanding the current state of the reprocessing / disposal market and emerging themes that UK Governments need to be aware of.

We realise that you are subjected to many requests for information, but it is essential that data, specific to your local authority and region, is captured and we have endeavoured to minimise the length of the survey, so it can be completed in as little time as possible. As well as approaching local authorities, WRAP is also approaching the operators of many of these facilities to gauge their views and opinions on current and future gate fees.

All information received will be securely stored with restricted access, treated as confidential and will not be attributed to any individual local authorities. The confidentiality of all respondents is, therefore, guaranteed and has always been a top priority in any surveys WRAP undertakes. The results of the gate fee survey will help to inform the development of the proposed Extended Producer Responsibility scheme for packaging. We would appreciate your thoughts on the sensitivities of the data provided and its applications. The data collected in the survey may be used to inform payments to facilities as well as collectors, so data accuracy is vital.

To complete the secure online survey please follow this link: www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/NBCB3P6

All local authorities are kindly requested to complete the online questionnaire by Friday 10th December 2021* at the latest.

UPDATE 08.12.21 - SURVEY DEADLINE EXTENDED TO FRIDAY 17TH DECEMBER*.

Attached is a PDF version of the survey should you need this to refer to before filling this in or to cross-refer with colleagues.

We hope the review will continue to provide a source of useful and interesting information to local authorities and waste facility operators.

Alongside gate fee data it is vital that WRAP has the most up to date information concerning your kerbside waste and recycling services as this data will, alongside other sources, be used to estimate current and future costs for kerbside collections. For local authorities in England, we strongly encourage you to take the opportunity to update your information in the WRAP Local Authority Portal. This information is key to performance and cost modelling that WRAP undertakes, and it is vital that forthcoming policy and funding is based on your latest, accurate data. WRAP will endeavour to grant you access to edit your data within one working day. Any queries can be directed to la-recycling@wrap.org.uk

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
