"Unlocking Value through Reuse" - CIWM Cymru Wales in Partnership with WISE Network & British Heart Foundation

Park Thistle Hotel, Cardiff

The re-use economy provides value to the public sector and waste management industry through waste collection, disposal and procurement savings.  It generates jobs, training and volunteer placements and helps fund charitable work carried out in local communities.  For many householders it represents a unique opportunity to access affordable and quality goods.

These two workshops will bring together a range of organisations that are already engaged in the re-use economy or that would like to be.  Housing associations, local authorities, charity retailers, furniture re-use organisations and waste/recycling businesses are invited to showcase their work and look into new opportunities.

The workshops will focus on key materials and markets:

• Bulky waste – furniture and large electricals

• Re-use containers at HWRCs (Household Waste Recycling Centres)

• Kerbside collections – textiles, small electricals

• Added value house clearance services

• Furnishing properties for tenants in need

• Repair, refurbishment and retail routes

Speakers already confirmed include the Retail Director of the British Heart Foundation, the Chief Executives  of the Furniture Re-use Network , Cartrefi Conwy & Crest Cooperative Director of Operations  of Cadwyn Housing and Antur Waunfawr

at Reichel, Bangor University, from 12.00 p.m -16.30, 15th June 2015
