Litter in the UK

London

21st October | 12.30 - 14.00pm | Committee Room 12, Palace of Westminster

We are delighted to invite you to the APSRG¹s Parliamentary seminar ŒLitter in the UK¹ chaired by Mary Robinson MP and supported by INCPEN, the Industry Council for Research on Packaging and the Environment.

This Parliamentary seminar will focus on the key concerns around litter in the UK. The seminar will examine the economic, environmental and social cost incurred by councils, businesses, tourism and communities as a result of the litter issues experienced in the UK. Concerns about litter are being highlighted by a number of organisations and public sector bodies, and this event will examine the potential for a Government-led, nationally-supported campaign.

In March 2015, the Communities and Local Government Committee published a report on ŒLitter and fly-tipping in England¹ so this seminar will be a timely opportunity to consider the impact of this inquiry and further action that needs to be done to tackle litter throughout the UK. The event will also examine Government¹s role in tackling litter through education, street cleaning and better enforcement of regulation.

Speakers include:

Jane Bickerstaffe ¬ Director, INCPEN

Trewin Restorick ¬ Founder and Chief Executive, Hubbub UK

Adam Harridance ¬ LRSuntory

Allison Ogden-Newton ¬ Chief Executive, Keep Britain Tidy

Further speakers to be confirmed.

This event will be chaired by Mary Robinson MP.
